skiing and being in the mountains has always stoked my flame hot and nobody has inspired me quite like candide thovex. for many reasons.

i was compelled to paint a picture of one of the scant few photos i could find online of the elusive mountain artist and man of Few Words.

this was my ~second oil portrait attempt after playing around with acrylics, and my first foray into a more expansive toolkit of mediums including impasto mediums. i'm so grateful to candide for inspiring me to push my expression to this precipice which, with all its faults, made me see my art in a new way - if only in my own heart.

Skiing all comes down to creativity, there are no set rules.

I look at it as a way out.

A way to forget about everything else.

Being up there keeps me grounded and reminds me of how insignificant we really are.
